Goku vs Superman
The oldest argument on the internet, settled the only way these two would want: as friends who hit very hard.

The Arena
A crack between universes opened over Metropolis, and a cheerful man in an orange gi dropped out of it asking whether anyone here was strong. Superman flew up to meet him expecting an invasion. Instead Goku shook his hand, sniffed the air, and said, “You’re really strong, huh? Want to spar?”
Superman said yes on one condition: somewhere empty. They chose a dead moon at the edge of a quiet solar system, a grey plain under a black sky, where nothing could be broken except the two of them.
Round One
They started like old friends testing a handshake. Goku threw a jab, Superman caught it, and the shock wave flattened a mountain range on the horizon. Both men grinned. Then the moon began to shake.
Superman fought the way he always does: controlled, precise, every punch pulled to exactly the strength needed. Goku fought like a kid on a playground, laughing between blows, switching from base form to Super Saiyan with a shout that turned the sky gold. Heat vision met a Kamehameha halfway between them and lit up the night side of the planet below. For a long time neither could take the lead.
The Turn
Superman realised that every time he pulled a punch, Goku noticed, and looked a little disappointed. So for the first time in years, the Man of Steel threw one without a brake on it.
It landed. Goku went through three craters and out the far side of a ridge, and came back up bleeding, glowing, and happier than Superman had ever seen anyone look. “That’s it! That’s what I wanted!” His aura turned blue, then silver, and his eyes went calm and empty. Ultra Instinct.
Now Superman’s best punches simply did not arrive. Goku’s body moved before his mind did, slipping blows thrown faster than light could cross the battlefield, and answering each miss with a strike that rang like a struck bell.
The Finish
Superman adapted the way he always does, flying wider, faster, testing the edges of this new defence. He found one, a heartbeat where Goku’s instinct flickered, and drove both fists into his chest hard enough to crack the moon’s crust. Goku dropped out of the silver form, panting.
But Goku had learned something about him in that exchange. Superman protects things. So Goku threw a Kamehameha not at Superman, but past him, toward the distant blue planet behind them, and Superman instinctively moved to block it. It was a feint. The beam curved away into empty space, and Goku was already behind him with an elbow to the back of the neck that drove the Man of Steel face-first into the dust.
Superman did not get up for ten seconds. When he did, he was laughing. “That was a dirty trick.” Goku helped him up. “Yeah, sorry. You’re way too nice, you know that?” They agreed on a rematch, somewhere with a yellow sun closer by.
The verdict
Goku wins
At their peaks the two are close, but Goku’s Ultra Instinct takes away Superman’s best weapon, his punch, and Goku’s fighting instincts exploit the restraint Superman never fully drops.
- Ultra InstinctLets Goku dodge attacks his mind cannot even track.
- Fighting experienceGoku has spent his whole life fighting opponents at or above his level.
- RestraintSuperman’s instinct to protect gives a clever opponent openings.
How the rematch could go differently: Versions of Superman powered by a supercharged sun, or fighting with nothing to protect at all, could overwhelm Goku before he reaches Ultra Instinct.
