The Arena
A curse leaked out of one world and into another, and both of the people responsible for that kind of problem arrived to deal with it at once. Doctor Strange stepped through a sparking portal onto a Shibuya rooftop. Satoru Gojo was already there, blindfold pushed up, sucking on a lollipop.
The curse was gone in seconds; Gojo had erased it before Strange finished his first spell. But Gojo had never seen magic like Strange’s, and he could not resist. “You look strong,” he said. “Want to see who’s stronger?” Strange sighed. He had heard that before.
Round One
Strange opened with crimson bands of Cyttorak. They wrapped around Gojo and stopped an inch from his body, slowing as they approached him and never quite arriving. Infinity. Gojo smiled and flicked a finger. Blue: a point of attraction that tore a chunk out of the rooftop and nearly pulled Strange into it.
The sorcerer shielded, teleported and struck from three directions at once with mystic bolts. None of them reached Gojo. He walked through the barrage like a man walking through rain he could not feel, and answered with Red, a repelling blast that blew Strange through a billboard.
The Turn
Strange realised what was happening. Nothing he threw would ever cross the infinite distance Gojo kept around himself. So he stopped trying to cross it. With a twist of his hands, he folded the rooftop into the Mirror Dimension.
The world shattered into reflections. Buildings bent like paper. Gojo’s Infinity still held, nothing could touch him, but now the ground beneath him folded in on itself, the sky turned sideways, and every way he moved led back to where he started. Infinity keeps things away from you. It does not tell you where you are.
Gojo laughed in delight and opened his Domain. Unlimited Void spread out, an endless starfield flooding the mind with infinite information. For a second it worked: Strange froze, his thoughts drowning.
The Finish
But Strange has looked into the endless before, he has stared down Dormammu in a dimension outside time, and he forced his mind through the flood one thought at a time. Gojo saw him move inside his own Domain and, for the first time in his life, felt surprised.
Strange did not attack him. He opened a portal under Gojo’s feet, a portal inside a portal inside a pocket of the Mirror Dimension, and sealed it. Infinity worked perfectly. Nothing could reach Gojo. And Gojo could not reach anything either, trapped in a folded corner of reality the size of a phone booth, with no exit his sorcery understood.
Strange let him out after an hour. Gojo stepped out, stretched, and grinned. “That was cheating.” Strange straightened his cloak. “That was magic.” Then they went for crepes, and argued about which of them had actually won.
The verdict
Doctor Strange wins
Nothing Strange throws can cross Gojo’s Infinity, but Strange does not need to touch him: his mastery of dimensions lets him trap Gojo in space itself, a kind of attack Gojo has never faced.
- Dimensional magicStrange can change where Gojo is instead of trying to hit him.
- Mental resilienceStrange forces his way through Unlimited Void, which ends most fights instantly.
- Unknown rulesGojo’s six eyes read cursed energy; Strange’s magic follows rules he cannot read.
How the rematch could go differently: If Gojo opened with Unlimited Void before Strange understood it, or used Hollow Purple at full power immediately, the fight could end before the Mirror Dimension ever opens.
